When you have a curiosity about different cultures and staying in one place makes you feel stagnant, and when you have exhibited a love for wandering, you are akin to what we call Hodophilia. In this article, we delve into what hodophilia is, why this wanderlust exists, and how travelling serves as a beneficial medium for many and impacts their mental well-being positively.

In Psychology, the simplicity principle posits that the mind draws interpretations of the world – mental models or mental representations that are as simple as possible or at least are biased towards simplicity. In many areas of cognition, researchers have found that human thought incorporates a bias towards simplicity.

Perceptual Psychology

The principle of simplicity first arose in perceptual psychology via the Gestalt notion of Pragnanz. The idea is that the mind prefers coherent and presumptive interpretations of sensitive data, for illustration interpreting silhouettes as the boundaries of objects, completing shapes plausibly behind occluders, and so forth. Simplicity proposition is the cognitive proposition that seeks to explain the attractiveness of situations or events to mortal minds.

Who is a simple person?

A simple person is someone who can find happiness in the lowest effects, who is content with what they have, and who finds a way to make space for what truly matters most to them, letting go of the other things.

They don’t like controversy, complicated relationships, or getting caught up in the drama. We generally don’t see a simple person starting or getting involved in arguments or fights.

They are thoughtful and They are humble:

A simple person is thoughtful. They listen to others and take time to think about what they are going to say. They don’t blurt out the first thing that comes to their minds without thinking about how it might affect others. Also, they tend to be veritably considerate and suppose how their conduct will affect the person’s passions under the circumstance. A simple person focuses on intellectual, spiritual, and artistic values rather than material ones. They don’t place important significance on things like plutocrats, status, or power. Simple people also exercise minimalism. Like minimalists, they concentrate on the things that truly matter and remove distractions. Simple people take their time and don’t get caught up in the frantic pace of ultramodern society. It can occasionally be frustrating because when we are in hurry they might not get ready or get going as fast as we like them to, but we have to respect their calm.

Simple people exercise awareness and take time to be present in their own lives as well as to connect with their musketeers and family. Living with purpose means knowing our values and being authentic in all aspects of our lives. The simple person is guided by their purpose to be themselves and make a positive impact on the world, and their value reflects who they actually are.

Many individuals are dealing with distress, anxiety, depression and a lot of other mental health conditions. In such conditions, Ikigai offers a new perspective on how to maintain well-being and take care of our mental health.

The most major thing that Ikigai promotes is having a sense of purpose in life which directly links with our perception towards everyday life. It gives one a reason to wake up and willingness to live life positively by prioritizing their passions and emotional wellbeing.
