No better way to make a whole chicken! So juicy, tender, and flavorful.

While I’ve cooked a whole chicken in a crock pot before, I didn’t use all of these flavorful spices. This is my new go-to recipe! (Although I substitute smoked paprika for the “regular” variety.) Such an easy way to cook a whole bird!

Everyone was satisfied with our 4th of July celebration! We had this whole chicken in a crockpot and it turned out beautifully! Plus, it was seasoned well, so tender and juicy!

There is no need to add any water when you are cooking the chicken on top of the onions. – Nicole

Hi Julie – Thanks, glad to hear you’re enjoying the recipe! We do breast side down to make the breast juicier, but of course it comes out fine either way. – Jason

I love this recipe it comes out perfect every time! I love putting the seasoning under the skin. I JUST noticed that you say to put the breast side down. In over the 100 times I’ve made it I’ve placed the breast up. Can I ask why?
